Team Raghudeep bags top honours at American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons Meeting in San Diego, USA

Raghudeep Eye Hospital bagged two prestigious awards at the recently concluded 33rd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons held at San Diego. Dr. Samaresh Srivastava, DNB, was awarded the Grand Prize for his film “Strange Stories, Amazing Facts: The Wavefront Omnibus” at the 33rd edition of the Film Festival, which honours the best educational films in the field of ophthalmology. This is one of the most prestigious awards in the ophthalmic fraternity, and it is only the second time in 33 years that an Indian has won the Grand Prize. This year’s film festival had 180 entries from 20 countries around the world.

Dr. Shail Vasavada, DO, DNB, FRCS, also won the Best Paper of Session Award for his paper titled “Descemet’s Membrane Atomic Force Microscopy- Elasticity of the Descemet’s with trypan blue staining”. This research was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Thomas John, a global corneal surgery expert from the U.S. His paper was unanimously judged as the best original scientific research paper by 3 panellists and 1 moderator, all world renowned experts in their domains. The ASCRS meeting is a platform where experts from all over the world present their scientific work and papers. The BPOS is considered the most prestigious recognition of scientific work.
