To research the major eye diseases that causes blindness and vision loss.
To become a leading eye centre through our research, clinical work and teaching.
Warm greetings from Iladevi Cataract and IOL Research Center!
The Centre has completed 23 years since its foundation in 1991 as a formal eye research trust supporting eye research. In the year 2000, a complete research centre came into existence which was fully equipped for basic and clinical research. Since then, it has earned a reputation as a premier research centre in the field of eye research. It is recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi.
2013-14 has been one of the most successful years for us due to several reasons. Dr Kaid Johar has now joined our centre as the Head of Basic Research. He was previously working in the area of brain and eye research at Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy (CBNA), Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA. The centre has obtained 3 new grants this year. Mrs Anshul Arora has completed her Ph D studies and has now joined USA laboratory. 3 students have completed their short term dissertation program.
Financially, 2013-14 has been one of the highest expense years for us. We have incurred extensive expenses to develop new facilities for Cloning, Cell and Tissue Culture and Imaging. In the coming year, we plan to continue to strengthen our research programs to ensure our success for additional funds. Our Board of Directors has committed itself to reinvigorate fundraising through donor solicitation, grants, events and an expansion of win-win partnerships with other organizations committed to eye research.
As we close the books on 2013-14, it is also a beginning of sorts. We have appointed Ms. Gurjari Shah for our fund raising activities and human resource management. We are enthusiastic about the new chapter in ICIRC’s history and continue to be grateful for your help and support for the journey ahead.
